Walmley C.C

Welcome To Walmley Cricket Club

Walmley C.C plays its home matches at the John Findlay Memorial Ground, Walmley, Sutton Coldfield. The club puts out four teams on a Saturday. With the 1st and 2nd teams competing in the Birmingham & District Premier League. The 3rd and 4th Teams enter the West Midlands Championship. Thee teams are fielded on a Sunday with the 1st & 2nd team in the Warwickshire Sunday League and the 3rd team in the Development League. The Club also enters several knockout Cup competitions including the National Knockout.

The Club has a flourishing Ladies Section, which is undoubtedly one of the best in the Midlands. In 2004 they were crowned Midland League & Cup winners and were also successful in the Warwickshire Twenty 20 League but were denied promotion due to an ECB administration error.

Season 2005 saw the Ladies once again crowned Midland League Champions and Warwickshire Twenty 20 Champions and this time they were promoted the the National Premier League.

Season 2006 provided the greatest challenge in their short history with probably the youngest squad ever playing ECB Premier League cricket.
A Ladies 2nd XI was entered in the Midland League and for the third consecutive season the Ladies won the Warwickshire Twenty 20 Championship. The section holds training sessions both in the winter and summer, taken by fully qualified ECB coaches.

The Club also boasts a fantastic Youth section with sides run from Under 9's to Under 17's. The Youth compete in the Warwickshire Cricket Board League & West Midlands Youth League. Youth Training sessions are run both in the Winter and Summer. All Youth teams are coached by qualified ECB Coaches. The club are very lucky in that we have over 25 Qualified Coaches at the club. One of the highlights of the year at Walmley Cricket Club is undoubtedly the opportunity we are given to host a Warwickshire Second XI Fixture. In recent years we have had the likes of Matthew Hoggard, Richard Dawson and Ian Bell playing at Walmley. This event is always very well supported and equally enjoyed.

The Club also hosts a number of Youth County fixtures both Boys and Girls from Under 19’s age group down to Under 10 age group.

In 2004 Walmley Cricket hosted two international warm up games in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy fixtures. South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh all fielded full strength sides in two tremendous games of cricket.

Walmley have a very active Social Committee who organise events such as the Barbeque, Race Nights and Quiz Nights amongst other things. Look out for further details on this very site.

Applications for membership are always welcome as well as suggestions for the website from existing members. Nathan Hill, Web Site Administrator can be contacted by emailing nch85@hotmail.com
